It’s not often you get to hang with the All Blacks! Last Friday I was blessed to hear Gilbert Enoka speak on high performance goal setting…understand your current position, set your goal to create a gap that feels uncomfortable, then bridge that gap.

Eighteen months ago, I started pole fitness and was invited to participate in a showcase performance. To avoid personal embarrassment, I trained hard and nailed the show! Afterwards, with no-one looking, I gradually slowed down until Gilbert’s timely reminder to create the next gap. Now, I’m entered into the NZAPP competition (beginner level!), with 15 weeks to choreograph a dance, perfect my steps and then sizzle my way through the performance.

The crippling anxiety I’ve suffered since acceptance is undoubtedly the reason every high performer needs a dedicated coach. Procrastination and self-sabotage have both crossed my mind in the last 24 hours. Hardly surprising, these are the most common ways people attempt to handle uncomfortable emotions. Fortunately, I also know the secrets to human motivation!

If you’d like to learn how to set purposeful goals and stay the course, even when it feels tough, I’m sharing my favourite neuroscience techniques in this month's FREE masterclass (via zoom). Join me in the shift from knowing to doing, and let’s bridge that gap together!
